2027 AACP Awards: Call for Nominations

(Submission Period: July 1–November 30, 2026)

To the AACP Community,

AACP is pleased to announce the 2027 awards cycle and is now accepting nominations from dues-paying members for two prestigious awards recognizing outstanding contributions to psychiatric research, education, and clinical service.

The Henry A. Nasrallah Distinguished Researcher Award

Established in honor of Dr. Henry A. Nasrallah’s more than 40 years of exceptional contributions to psychiatric research, this award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated sustained scientific achievement, significant scholarly productivity, and a lasting impact on the fields of psychiatry, psychopharmacology, or neuroscience.

The Donald W. Black Clinical and Teaching Excellence Award

Established in honor of Dr. Donald W. Black’s more than 40 years of distinguished service in psychiatry and education, this award recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional patient care, education, and have served the profession with distinction at the local, national, or international level.

Awards Deadline and Submission Guidelines

  1. AACP members may nominate themselves or another individual.
  2. The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2027 awards is November 30, 2026.
  3. Nomination materials must include a narrative of 500 words or fewer that addresses the following:
  1. Reason for Nomination
    Why are you nominating this individual?
  2. Criteria Alignment
    How has the nominee met the criteria for either the Henry A. Nasrallah Distinguished Researcher Award or the Donald W. Black Clinical and Teaching Excellence Award?
  3. Significant Impact
    How have the nominee’s achievements advanced psychiatric research (for the Henry A. Nasrallah Distinguished Researcher Award) or enhanced psychiatric service and education (for the Donald W. Black Clinical and Teaching Excellence Award)?
  4. Nominee Information
    Provide the nominee’s full name and email address.
  5. Submission Instructions

The award recipient will be recognized and presented with the award at the 2027 AACP Annual Meeting.
