The American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists (AACP) was founded in 1975 by George Winokur, MD and others who recognized that a wealth of clinical data is available in every psychiatrist’s personal practice experience. The AACP provides a forum that brings together clinical practitioners and academicians to share information relevant to the practice of psychiatry, with the goal of enhancing patient care. The organization endeavors to keep members abreast of the latest scientific developments pertaining to the diagnosis, etiology, and treatment of psychiatric disorders through annual meetings and the Annals of Clinical Psychiatry, the official journal of the AACP. The emphasis is on practical knowledge that will inform clinical care. The organization provides a liaison with other clinical and professional societies to promote cooperation and an understanding of common interests. |
